Gwangju Metropolitan City signed investment memoranda of understanding (MOU) with 21 companies in the automotive, artificial intelligence (AI), energy and medical industries in the business room at City Hall. The signing ceremony was attended by Gwangju Mayor Kang Gi-jung, the Commissioner of the Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority and the heads of the investing companies.

The city expects the agreements to bring about KRW 248.6 billion of investment and create around 760 jobs. The participating companies — 11 automotive companies including EV parts makers, 6 AI convergence R&D companies, 2 energy companies and 2 medical/bio companies — belong to Gwangju's flagship industries.

Suryong Industrial's investment plan

Based in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, Suryong Industrial develops and produces automotive parts such as cable ties and connectors. To broaden its manufacturing base and build its technology development capability, it is pursuing a facility investment in the Bitgreen National Industrial Complex.

The city said it will continue tailored support for investing companies — from the investment attraction stage to resolving obstacles, administrative and financial support, and listening to their difficulties — so that they can settle in smoothly.
